Leadership, Conservation and Inspiration

Randy Ford has always been involved in the hunting and fishing industry, and has always been committed to making things better for those he helped mentor and for the Natural Resources Resources we use and depend on.

When Randy started the Canadian Taxidermists Association, it started with the mission to connect with other taxidermists across the nation and help teach and inspire them to offer the best quality products possible for their clients.

Aside from Excelling himself, winning at the National competition level, Randy taught and inspired his young apprentices to become the Best in the world.

Kevin Hockley started in high school to train under Randy, and went on to run the Royal Ontario Museum in Toronto, and was contracted by the Smithsonian Institute to create the 40 foot Titanoboa python exhibit (google it ...amazing).

2 other young apprentices (Shawn Galea and James McGregor) got instructions on mounting fish /air brushing painting techniques from Randy when they were just teenagers in the mid 1980s.

They both were inspired to think beyond what they were being taught, and went on to International fame as World Champion taxidermists, well before they were out of their teens.

Their “Advanced Taxidermy Studio” is renowned world wide, as providing the highest quality available anywhere.  Check their website, and prepare to be in awe.

Randy says they offer results that have incredible level of realism and quality, and well beyond anything he was capable of himself.

They currently are the preferred studio for many of the top TV show hosts in the world.

Inspiration counts…whether its in taxidermy…or any other endeavor…when people say it can’t be done ..find a way to do it better!

Randy Started the Georgian Triangle Anglers Assn, which was and still is instrumental in rearing and releasing trout and salmon at their hatcheries for the public to enjoy in the Great Lakes tributaries and Georgian Bay off Lake Huron. This volunteer effort has been operating for over 45 years.

Randy started and chaired the Georgian Triangle spring trout derby over 40 years so years ago, helping provide a structured and fun way to enjoy the trout fishing opportunities in the area.

When the Ontario Government planned to shut down the Tiny marsh pheasant hunt, Randy took it over and ensured pheasant hunting opportunities continued for decades.

Randy was appointed to the Ontario Ministry of Natural Resources  Fish and Wildlife advisory Board , and chaired the wildlife sub committee for 3 years .

In business , Randy worked at achieving what was deemed impossible to others.

A big list of Randy’s Patents and inventions came from his persistent nature to tackle and solve technical problems that other experts had failed to achieve.

While President of Walker Downriggers Inc. Randy dreamed of finding a user friendly way of watching trolled lures down deep, from his downriggers on a monitor in the boat.

Not only for entertainment purposes but to learn what lure presentations the fish preferred, to increase success rates.

This was all before there were any underwater camera companies like Aqua vu on the market.

Common coaxial cables were simply too big to troll with effectively as they created too much drag for trolling.

Randy consulted with many engineers, about the potential to transfer video camera signals through his downrigger cables.

Some Sony engineers tried to convince Randy that there was no way to achieve that, since the lack of shielding would prevent clear signals.

Strike Vision video camera systems were created and patented by Randy by doing exactly what the engineers said was impossible.

Finding challenges and solving the problem, is also exactly what happened when Randy created the Quigley Ford Dual Focal Plane scope reticle system.

After an optics PHD reassured him that utilizing a rear focal plane reticle, in conjunction with a front focal plane reticle was basicly impossible due to image conflict, that started Randy in a quest to solve the problem.

Of course, whatever other experts say is impossible to achieve, really just means a challenge is presented for Randy to solve!

Quigley Ford Dual Focal Plane scopes not only exist, but help solve the issue for hunters who require a first focal plane reticle for accurate and fast long range shooting, but allow easy target acquisition for close shots on low power settings in bad light, (without batteries of electronics) .

This actually represents up to 90% of shot opportunities.

Randy has spent a lifetime of teaching, inspiring and giving back to the resources we all cherish, and helping those others who share the same values.

After selling for decades to the public through vendors like Cabelas, Bass Pro Shops, and others with his fishing products, Randy decided that the Quigley Ford long range brand scopes would achieve the most revenue for our natural resources , by staying clear of retail venues whose profits just went to shareholders.

Almost all sales of Quigley Ford Scopes in USA  are channeled through our non profit Partners rather than retailers.. All profits generated by the Non profit organizations in USA, are spent on Conservation initiatives within U.S.A.

When you buy a Quigley Ford scope you are not only supporting your favorite conservation organization. You are helping ensure the future stays bright for future generations of your family to continue enjoying the resources in the same way!
